Long Live The Olds

For phasing out Oldsmobile!

Well after looking and looking I finally found a 442 that I could afford. Well I couldn't really afford it but who's keeping track. When I bought it I still owned my 85 and the Calais. I was probably the only 20yr old with 3 g-bodies in the city. If I remember correctly I sold the 85 on June 25th. Its a 1986 Oldsmobile 442 with the 307 H.O. and 200-r4. The rear gear is a 3.73 one tire fryer with a 8.5 inch ring gear. I bought it on April 5, 2000 with 194,000 kms on it. The paint is decent condition but it could use a repaint but that will have to wait until I'm out of university and making the big money. The wheels are in surprisingly good condition with only a tiny bit of rust on 3 and a small ring on the fourth. They shine so bright in the summertime when I've got it all cleaned up. (almost every day)

This seems to be what the Cutlass does most of its life :-)

The 442 :-)

I know its not a very good pic with the wheels turned wrong but it will have to do for now.

What I've fixed and bought for it already since I bought it on 05/04/00:
Windshield
Moog Cargo Coil springs
Monroe Sensetrac's all around
Rear brakes including drums, shoes, and cylinders
AC Rapid Fire spark plugs and Accel 8.8mm wires
K&N air filter
3 row rad
Water pump
Upper and lower rad hoses
Valve cover gaskets
U-joints with lifetime warranty
Vacuum hub under the air cleaner (my fault)
Soldered the back of the tach so its accurate
Changed the dash and console lights to red
Installed three lighted rocker switches in the ashtray
Tinted the back three windows
Future Fixes: (as I make enough money)
Paint job including refinishing the wheels
Major tune up in the spring
New tires 215/65/15 and 235/60/15 RWL Cooper Cobra GT's (spring)
Rear bearings and seals (spring)
Front brakes including pads, bearings, seals, and rotors
Complete front end rebuild including bushings
cold air induction (homemade)
Convert the exhaust to true dual from the factory after cat system (spring)
Rear tail pipes from Walker
New interior carpet because its 17 yrs old, dirty, and faded
